Rodrigo A. Jimenez, originally from Chile, studied Latin American Folklore and Flamenco dancing which he began performing at an early age. In the United States, he continued his dance studies on International Latin Ballroom (Silver Medalist), Latin American Folklore, Flamenco and Capoeira. He has performed and toured in the United States, a month and a half tour through Europe in 2002, and a South American tour in 2003. He moved to Charlotte in 2003 and ever since he has been teaching dance and performing in several local events, festivals and shows in various important venues including The Halton, McGlohan, Booth Playhouse and The Belk Theater.
In 2004 Rodrigo participated in the annual State Latin Dance Competition, "Competencia Baile Musica Latina" organized by the NC Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, where he got 1st Place. This win motivated him to continue teaching in a more official way; started teaching at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center's "Spirit Square" and "Latorre's Club". He continued working as an instructor, choreographer and performer for the Latin American Folk Dance Company and became involved with the Argentine Tango community. In 2006 Rodrigo competed again in the State Latin Dance competition where he, for the second consecutive time, got 1st place!
Owner of his own Dance Studio "World Dance Center" where currently teaches and Salsa Company “Charlotte Salsa” Rodrigo is also a Teaching Artist for the NC Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and a PT Faculty Dance Instructor at he University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). He continues performing and teaching at Salsa Congresses around the US, Latin Festivals, School assembly programs and Other Clubs and venues.
Wendy Jimenez, originally from El Salvador, has been dancing since 2006 and in a short period of time has become top dancer and performer for Charlotte Salsa. Currently teaches beginners, general and intermediate classes along with Rodrigo at "World Dance Center" and other different venues where Charlotte Salsa is involved. Performances and workshops for various Salsa Congresses around the US as well as special events, Latin Festivals, School programs, etc. She is a living proof of hard work and dedication towards learning dance.
